Sold, traded in, or paid off a car in the last few years? You might have money waiting.
When you bought the car, the dealer probably sold you some extras. Think extended warranty, GAP, or tire & wheel protection. You paid for years of coverage up front. If you got rid of the car early, part of that money is often yours to get back.

The numbers
Bet you didn't know this
Most people don't, and that's kind of the problem.
of people with a car loan bought at least one extra (2018–2022). Good odds you did too.1
was the average price of an extended warranty, the priciest extra. GAP averaged $952. (Military borrowers, 2018–2022.)1
of car loans came with a trade-in (2018–2022). That old car may have had extras nobody cancelled.2
Federal regulators found loan companies not making sure people got these refunds when loans ended early.3
Why does this money slip through the cracks? Nobody calls to remind you. The dealer doesn't always cancel the extras when you trade in or pay off. And a refund can go to your lender instead of you, so you may never notice.

How we get it back
We do the legwork. You get the refund.
You can do this yourself for free. Here's what we handle so you don't have to.
- Find who holds each contract. It's often not the dealer, but a company buried in your paperwork.
- Send the right forms and proof, like a payoff letter or trade-in papers, the way each company wants them.
- Check their math against your contract, so you know if a refund came up short.
- Follow up until it's paid or there's a clear answer. No hold music for you.
What we look for
Extras that can often be refunded
If you paid for one of these and the car or loan ended early, the unused part may be owed back to you.
Every contract is different. Some have a cancellation fee, and claims you used can lower the refund.
What it costs
Free to check. You pay only if we recover money.
Free. If you already got the right refunds, we tell you you're all set.
Of the confirmed missing amount we get back. Never on refunds you already got or that were on the way. No minimum fee.
If what's missing is under $75, we don't file. We send you free do-it-yourself steps instead.
You can always request these refunds yourself, for free, from the company on your contract or the dealer. We're not a law firm, and refunds are never paid to us. No guarantees.

Good questions
Plain answers about how this works.
What is the free refund check?
When a car loan ends early (payoff, trade-in, sale, refinance), most add-ons, such as an extended warranty/service contract, tire & wheel, GAP, etch, or a maintenance plan, refund the unused part. We check whether you got every refund you're owed and the right amount. Forgotten add-ons are the first thing we look for.
What does it cost?
The check is free. If you already got the correct refunds, you owe nothing. If we recover a missing refund, our fee is 30% of the confirmed missing amount we recover, never of refunds you already received or that were already in progress. No minimum fee. If the missing amount is under $75, we don't file and instead send you free instructions to claim it yourself.
What counts as "missing"?
Lenders, states, and administrators often have an automatic refund window after a payoff (we assume 45 days unless your paperwork says otherwise). A refund counts as missing only after that window has passed without a refund. A refund counts as short only when the administrator's own written refund calculation shows you were paid less than it calculated. A guess based on typical prices never counts.
How long does it take?
One minute to sign up. We do the digging and tell you what we find, usually within 2–4 weeks. If we have to file, administrators typically take another few weeks to pay.
Can you tell from my VIN?
No. A VIN tells us the car, not which add-ons you bought. We use paperwork you send (a photo is fine) or request copies from the dealer or administrator with your authorization.
Can I just do this myself?
Yes, and for free. Call or write the administrator listed on your contract (or the dealer's finance office), ask to cancel, and request a refund of the unearned charges plus a written refund calculation. We're here if you'd rather hand off the paperwork.
Who gets the check?
You (or your lender, if the contract requires it). Our authorization specifically forbids us from receiving, endorsing, or redirecting your refund. Administrators send us a copy of the calculation and confirmation so we can check the amount.
Is there anything you don't handle yet?
At launch we don't take cases where a refund would be credited to a loan that's still open (for example a repossession or an open balance).
Are you lawyers?
No. We're a paperwork service. We don't give legal advice; we send requests based on your contract's own cancellation terms.
Is my information safe?
We collect the minimum needed, use it only for your refund check, and never sell it. See our privacy note.
